Tips for Compliance
✅ Staying compliant with your certification requirements isn’t just about ticking boxes — it’s about staying ahead. Here are this month’s top tips:
🔍 1. Review & Refresh Your Risk Registers
Mid-year is a great time to revisit your risk assessments. Ensure your risk registers reflect current operations, staffing, technology, and external conditions.
📄 2. Check Policy & Procedure Currency
Policies older than 2–3 years (especially WHS, quality, environment, or safeguarding) may trigger non-conformities. Review and reissue any outdated documents.
🧑🏫 3. Schedule Your Annual Internal Audit
If your certification cycle includes surveillance or recertification in late 2025 or early 2026, now is the time to plan internal audits to catch gaps early.
📂 4. Evidence! Evidence! Evidence!
Update records of staff training, inspections, meetings, incident reports, and management reviews. This is the most common gap found in audits.

Team Spotlight

👋Hi, I am Trisha, and I work remotely for CVC and absolutely love what I do!
I set up audits, coordinate audit plans, and support the team with reports. I get to do fun things like release certificates and look after the back end of the system. I also have the pleasure of connecting with new clients who reach out with enquiries—it’s something I genuinely enjoy, as it gives me the chance to learn about their businesses and find the best ways we can support them.
Another rewarding part of my role is looking after our Certification Practice, organising, and welcoming new auditors on board. It’s a real privilege to meet and work alongside such passionate and talented professionals in our industry.
My partner and I travel often and spend a lot of time supporting our elders across South Australia, Victoria, and Queensland. Working remotely allows me to balance my work with what matters most to us, and for that, I’m truly grateful.

Re‑imagining Roadside Safety for an Electric‑Vehicle Future

We recently met Dr Shanqing Xu and the impact‑engineering team at Swinburne University of Technology and heard about their multi-stream project to improve roadside safety barriers for the fast-growing electric‑vehicle (EV) fleet. As EV uptake accelerates across Australia, their extra mass and low‑slung battery packs are producing very different crash dynamics—especially in run‑off‑road impacts where traditional W‑beam or concrete barriers may not arrest the vehicle or prevent battery intrusion.
To tackle that problem, Swinburne is partnering with KSI Global Australia, developer of the Safety Roller Barrier (SRB), a next‑generation system that replaces solid rails with a series of energy‑absorbing EVA rollers mounted on steel posts. The SRB has already logged zero fatalities and serious injuries at trial sites in Victoria and Western Australia and holds the world’s first MASH TL‑4 accreditation, read more at ksiglobal.com.au
Beyond safety, the roller design reduces maintenance and replacement costs as damaged posts can be swapped individually, and the bright yellow / reflective drums serve as a visual deterrent, reducing the number and severity of crashes in the first place.
The new barrier has been certified for installation in Victoria, NSW, Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory, clearing the path for state road agencies and infrastructure owners to deploy it at high‑risk sites.
Get involved
They’re now looking for industry partners—road authorities, engineering consultants, contractors and fleet operators—who can help bring this technology to Victorian roads.
Arrange a demonstration or site tour of the Safety Roller Barrier.
Collaborate on pilot projects to validate cost and safety benefits under local conditions.
Share this post with colleagues who influence road‑safety investment.

Duty of care
New Duty of Care Laws Rolling Out Across Key Sectors
Australia is ushering in sweeping duty of care reforms across workplace safety, aged care, and digital platforms in 2025. New WHS laws introduce an industrial manslaughter offence with penalties up to 25 years’ imprison

ment or $18 million for organisations, reinforcing proactive risk management duties. From 1 November 2025, the new Aged Care Act 2024 imposes legal duties on providers and responsible persons to prevent harm and uphold the rights of older people. Additionally, proposed online safety reforms will create a duty of care for digital platforms, requiring them to mitigate online harm—especially to minors—or face significant fines. These changes mark a major shift in legal accountability and risk governance across sectors.

Testimonials

"We always enjoy spending time with our auditor, Linda, when she visits.
This year for our recertification, we changed things up slightly by hosting both Linda and Felicity.
The “divide and conquer” approach worked well, their professionalism and approachable nature made it clear they’re not here to catch us out but to support what’s best for our business and our customers.
While they did their best to try and uncover any non-conformances, we were pleased to receive only OFIs.
We’re already mapping out our next round of continuous improvement initiatives to make sure it stays that way!
PS Trish who keeps things running smoothly in the background also deserves high praise as well 😊"
